The Excelsior Theater was an early motion-picture theater in Baltimore. Opened in 1911 and closed around 1926, the Excelsior Theater, designed by Theodore Wells Pietsch, was a short-lived jewel box of exquisite design. Pietsch, whose exuberant façades could be seen on the Wilson and Elektra theaters as well, designed the Excelsior for Abram and Louis Benesch. It eventually had to be torn down on account of the danger of falling plaster ornamentation.
