For the purpose of an office building for Mr. George Gunther, about whom very little is known, the Gunther Building was designed by Simonson & Pietsch in early 1904. By the end of August, a contract was secured for the building’s erection on the St. Paul Street Plaza, which is now known as the Cathy Hughes Plaza. In 1905, the Gunther Building was completed. An artist’s renderings of the building were printed in the November 4, 1904 issue of the Baltimore Sun.
This building was featured in Recent Works of Simonson & Pietsch, published in 1906 (Enoch Pratt Free Library Archives).
