On June 30, 1884, The Baltimore Sun reported that the Maryland Bicycle Club had recently formed and that James Thompson was the president. The December 1884 issue of Manufacturer and Builder identified Frank E. Davis as the architect of the club’s new headquarters, which would be a three-story brick building with a bluestone front elevation. Bicycle clubs such as this one were becoming increasingly popular in the 1880s. The building is still standing; however, two additional floors have been added and it now is an apartment building.
