The First English Reformed Church was designed by architects Thomas Dixon and Frank E. Davis. It’s notable for its Gothic Revival features—lancet windows, ornamental buttresses, and a soaring, 160-foot spire. The building is apparently the oldest surviving work of Frank E. Davis. The building has been occupied by multiple congregations since its construction, including the Aisquith Street German Reformed Church, the German Reformed Zion Church, the Aisquith Street Presbyterian Church. Today, it’s the Waters AME Church.
